TSS 482 Visas

From 25 November, TSS 482 visa applicants in the short-term stream will no longer be restricted to one onshore renewal of their TSS 482 visa.

Applicants will be able to lodge multiple applications onshore while still having to demonstrate why they are a 'Genuine Temporary Entrant'.

ENS 186 Permanent Residence - Temporary Residence Transition Stream

Previously, to qualify for ENS permanent residence in the Temporary Residence Transition (“TRT”) stream, employers could only nominate TSS 482 holders whose visa had been approved on the basis of them working in an occupation from the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skilled Occupation List (“MLTSSL”). Furthermore, TSS 482 holders were required to work with the nominating employer in that occupation for at least 3 years while holding this visa.

From 25 November 2023, TRT applicants meeting all other criteria for this pathway, can now qualify if they:

1. Have been working for the employer full-time, in the occupation their TSS 482 visa was nominated in, and

2. During this time, held their TSS 482 for at least 2 years out of the last 3 years

This means it is now irrelevant as to whether the nominated occupation is on the MLTSSL, Short Term Skilled Occupation List (“STSOL”) or under Labour Agreement, and the qualifying period has been reduced from 3 years within the last 4 years, to 2 years within the last 3 years.
