Travel Exemptions Gone!
IMPORTANT UPDATE 29 November 2021 - Today, the Federal Government announced they are deferring the below from 1 December 2021 to until 15 December 2021. This is always subject to change.
No more travel exemptions required for eligible Australian Visas! In an effort to boost Australia’s economy, Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, announced that Australian borders will reopen 1 December 2021 to eligible visa holders, without the usual requirement for travel exemptions.
Additionally, fully vaccinated South Koreans and Japanese citizens holding a valid visa will also be able to enter Australia without having to quarantine.
Australia’s international borders were closed in March 2020. Following the nation’s double-dose vaccination rates exceeding 85% in adults aged 16 years and over, the Prime Minister made this travel announcement today which brings Australia to another phase of its re-opening plan.
This will be comforting news to many but, it is important to remember that pre-flight COVID testing, the Australian travel declaration and each state and territory’s quarantine requirements, will continue to operate simultaneously.
