Skilled Nominated 190 Visa
This a points-tested, permanent residence visa that provides requires support by the relevant Australian state or territory government.
The first application step to check whether the nominated occupation is on the list for the 190 visa as well as the occupation list provided by the preferred state or territory.
Then, submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) into the Skillselect system. If the applicant has enough points and the EOI indicates they have skills that are currently in demand, there is a good chance that an invitation will be issued to the applicant to lodge the 190 visa.
Even if all the criteria is met there is no guarantee of securing an invitation but, if successful, applicants will have 60 days to lodge visa application.
190 Visa General Requirements
The general criteria for lodging a 190 visa application includes:
Be 18 to 44 years of age
Score at least 65 points
Demonstrate Competent English
Have a positive skill assessment in the nominated occupation for this visa
Be nominated by a state or territory government

Lodge an EOI through the Skillselect system, and be invited to apply
Meet health and character requirements
If the 190 visa application is successful, it is expected that the visa holder will remain in the nominated state or territory for 2 years or risk visa cancellation.
The 190 visa gives the holder Australian permanent residence. This means they can live in Australian permanently with full work rights - it is important to note that the travel facility on this visa is valid for 5 years from the date of grant so, consideration should be given as to whether a Resident Return Visa or Australian Citizenship are the appropriate next steps.
